Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar local-storage technologies used on livinservices.com: what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how you control it. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which covers personal data more broadly.

"Cookies" here means cookies proper and the equivalent browser technologies — localStorage, sessionStorage and pixels — because the rules that matter treat them the same way and drawing a technical distinction would only obscure what is actually happening.

Nothing optional runs until you choose. When you first arrive you are asked, and until you answer, no analytics and no marketing technology loads at all.

Rejecting is one click, in a button the same size and prominence as accepting. Nothing is pre-ticked in the preference panel. Refusing does not restrict any part of this site — every page, every service listing, the search, the forms and the contact routes all work identically either way.

You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page.

The consent tool stores exactly two optional categories. There are no hidden extras, and no third category described in this document that you cannot see a switch for.

• •Analytics — aggregated measurement of which pages are read, which searches are run and where visitors leave. Used to decide what to write next and which pages are failing. Configured to be aggregated and non-identifying; we do not use it to build a profile of you.
• •Marketing — measurement of whether an advertisement or campaign led to an enquiry. Off unless you accept it. If you refuse, we simply do not know which campaign brought you here, which is a cost we are willing to bear.

A third, "strictly necessary", exists but is not a choice, because without it the site cannot remember your cookie decision or keep a form you were filling in. It sets no advertising identifier and follows you nowhere. Section 4 lists exactly what it contains.

Strictly necessary — always active, cannot be switched off:

• •livin.consent (localStorage, persistent until you clear it or we change our categories) — stores your cookie choice, the date you made it and the version of the categories it applied to. Without this we would have to ask you on every page load.
• •Session state (sessionStorage, cleared when you close the tab) — holds transient interface state such as an in-progress form or a dismissed prompt, so navigating away and back does not lose your work.

Analytics — only after you accept the analytics category: a first-party analytics cookie recording an anonymous visit identifier and the pages viewed, typically expiring within 24 months. It is not used to identify you, is not combined with your enquiry, and is not shared with advertising networks.

Marketing — only after you accept the marketing category: conversion-measurement cookies set by an advertising platform where we are running a campaign, typically expiring within 90 days. If we are not advertising, this category sets nothing even when accepted.

That is the complete list. We do not use session recording, heat mapping, mouse tracking, fingerprinting or third-party chat widgets, and we do not embed social media pixels in page templates.

• •We do not treat continuing to scroll, or simply using the site, as consent. Consent means clicking a button that says so.
• •We do not pre-tick optional categories in the preference panel. A pre-ticked box is not a choice.
• •We do not make rejecting harder than accepting — no hidden "manage" route, no second confirmation step, no greyed-out decline.
• •We do not withhold content, features or contact routes from visitors who refuse. The previous version of this policy warned that refusing "may restrict access to parts of the site". That was untrue and has been removed.
• •We do not re-ask on every visit to wear you down. We ask once, and again only if we change what we run.
• •We do not sell the data these cookies generate, or share it with data brokers or list vendors.

Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, which is a legal requirement and also simply reasonable.

• •On this website: use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page. It opens the same panel you saw initially, with your current settings shown, and takes effect immediately.
• •In your browser: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies for a specific site or all sites. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will mean we cannot remember your consent decision, so you will be asked again on each visit — that is a consequence of the block, not a penalty.
• •Across advertising networks: the industry opt-out tools at youronlinechoices.com (EU/UK) and optout.aboutads.info cover platform-level advertising preferences beyond this website.

Withdrawing consent stops future processing. It does not undo what was lawfully collected while consent was in place, though you can ask us to delete that too under section 11 of our privacy policy.

Your consent record stores the version of the categories it was given against. If we add a category, or change the vendors inside an existing one, that version increases and your previous answer no longer applies — the banner asks again rather than assuming you would have agreed.

This matters more than it sounds. Silently expanding what an existing consent covers is the most common way cookie consent becomes meaningless, and building the version check into the storage means we cannot do it by accident.

Links from this website to third-party sites — platform documentation, our Google Business Profile, the tools we compare — take you outside this policy, and those sites set their own cookies under their own terms.

Where we would otherwise embed third-party content that sets cookies or calls out to another server on load, it is held behind consent rather than loading automatically.
